When Is The Best Time To Catch A Fish?
The best time to catch a fish depends on several things. Two of these things are the type of fish you want to catch and the area you are fishing in. For instance, Coho salmon fishing really heats up in the spring on Lake Michigan, while brown trout can be caught there from mid-April.
But the best time to catch fish need not refer to the season, fish have their preferred feeding times just like humans do so if you fish during these times, you'll be more likely to be successful in your endeavors. Tides also have a lot to do with the best time to catch fish. Some fish will bite like crazy on an incoming tide, while others prefer to wait until it's going out. Weather is important too. If a front is approaching, some fish will go into a feeding frenzy so they don't get too hungry while the cold or storm lasts and they might not be able to catch their food.
Lake trout become really active in the winter months. If you want to try for them in the summer, you have to fish deep, where the water is cooler. Dawn and dusk are their best feeding times, so you'll have to schedule your fishing day to fit with these times.
Rainbow trout are more active during the summer months, while in the springtime they can be caught in shallow water. It's best to try for them at dusk, which is when they like to feed. If you want to try them in the winter, they'll usually be right below the ice.
Spring is a good time for crappie and striped bass, as they start their spring run then. But they can still be caught at other times of the year. If you are going out in a boat to fish, pick a time when the conditions are calm. In rough weather, many fish refuse to bite, besides which, it's not as pleasant to fish in rough weather.
If you don't know what is the best time of year or day to catch fish in your area, pop down to the local bait shop and ask. They'll be sure to give you lots of information about times and tides. Summer seems to be the most popular time for fishing, mainly due to those long summer holidays and balmy weather inducing all but the laziest anglers out to the water.
